A short note from Dave Mitchell
Wow, where do I begin? As I was doing some of my domestic duties around the
house today, I was singing "More Than A Feeling" to myself. What a legacy
Brad Delp left behind for all of us to enjoy. What a voice and what a man!
I think of him everyday, wishing and hoping that it was all a bad dream.
I miss him standing there center stage, looking over at me with that approving
smile and that occasional wince when there was a bad note (fortunately, it
was more of the approving smile!) I miss the pre-show chat, usually my favorite
part of the evening, when Brad would leave us all in hysterics with his uncanny
dry sense of humor. And for all those who are wondering, it was always PG-13!
The big shoes that he left for Beatlejuice will never be filled. How can
a man in his mid 50s sing close to 60 Beatle songs a night and not break
a sweat is beyond belief! But he did, and he did it to perfection. He was,
in musician's speak, a singer's singer.
I would like to thank all the fans for continuing to show Beatlejuice support
and coming out to the shows. We love all of you, and it's because of you that
we continue to perform some of the greatest music ever written.
I would like to thank all of our friends, our vocalists and musicians that
have joined the ranks of Beatlejuice to keep the train rollin'. All of them
superlative talents in their own right, and all of them the nicest people you'd
ever want to meet. Without them, Beatlejuice could not exist in it's current
state.
Thanks especially to our wives, Becky, Karen, Joy, Donna and Brad's fiancé Pamela
for all their love and support. Beatlejuice is not only a band, it's a family.
It's also a musical institution that brings a lot of joy to people who come
to see the shows since it's inception in 1994 when original members Brad Delp,
John Muzzy, Joe Holaday, Steve Baker and Bob Squires performed their very first
gig at Muzz's sister-in-law's house. Who knew it would last this long? Fortunately
for all of us, it did.
And lastly, thank you Brad. We miss you and love you for everything that you
meant to us - personally and musically.
